  • Type in the URL for your bank in the internet browser if you need to access your bank's webpage. Never access your bank using a hyperlink
  • Keep your mobile device and antivirus software up to date with the latest security patches
  • Ensure that all personal Wi-Fi networks are password protected and that all the necessary security settings are enabled
  • Avoid sensitive transactions on public Wi-Fi networks

 

 

  • Don’t carry unnecessary personal information in your possession whilst travelling
  • Don’t disclose personal information such as passwords and PINs when asked to do so by anyone via telephone, fax, email or online
  • Don’t use Internet Cafés or unsecure terminals to do your banking

 

  • Carry as little cash as possible
  • Utilise electronic banking to avoid carrying large amounts of cash
  • Don’t follow a similar pattern when depositing or withdrawing cash from the bank

 

  • Do not ask anyone to assist you at the ATM. Rather go inside the bank
  • Always ensure that your PIN is physically covered when transacting at either the ATM or in shops or restaurants
  • After transacting at an ATM, inspect your card to ensure that you have the correct card in your possession

 

  • No refund should be made without first verifying with the bank that the deposit that has been made into your account has been cleared
  • Do not release any goods before you have ensured that payment has been cleared
  • Take caution and look out for falsified Proof of Payment
